Original Pair of Cast Iron Ironing Board Brackets

This pair of original ironing board brackets was rescued from an old trunk. At first I thought that they were Morris chair brackets, but a cryptic note clearly stated that they were “from Molly’s ironing table.” I recall seeing an old ironing board with similar cast brackets many years ago. The height of the board could be adjusted, similar to the seat back on a Morris chair.
These pieces have not been cleaned, but the black paint is quite good. They are cast iron. The length of each piece is 7½ inches, the width is three-quarters of an inch, and the distance between the mounting holes is 7 inches. These are very sturdy brackets – each weighs almost a half-pound. Four original mounting screws are included.
These were made to mount on a flat surface, with 3 points of contact. I’m sure they are adaptable for other uses. I don’t know if they would work on a chair back. I also recall seeing something similar on an old laundry bucket stand and rack.
