Hubley
cast iron bank of a black and white spotted cat
wearing a tied red ribbon around its neck, as right as rain and an especially good one, with the expected minor paint loss due to previous handling and prior use over some 135-140 years. It's heavy and the burnished metal interior edges of both halves of the cast iron figure, seamlessly meet along this area where the two parts conjoin in the middle. The back of the cat figure features a thin rectangular slot to deposit coins in. There's also some minor episodes of surface oxidation (slight rusting) on especially the white enamel paint on the cast iron. This vintage, authentic and original late 19th to early 20th century

painted cast iron bank has great lines and a wonderful expression on the cat's face, giving it a distinct and particular personality. The enamel paint loss demonstrates that the piece is honest and an authentic antique cast iron bank, rather than a mere reproduction or repainted piece. Marvelous.
