  • Condition: Fair-Good overall antique cond: Absolutely orig painted surfaces &original rear slot screw fastener make this late 19th c American Hubley cast iron bank of a black & white spotted cat wearing a tied red ribbon around its neck, as 'right as rain' & an especially good one, w/the expected minor paint loss due to previous handling & use over 135-140 yrs. It's heavy & the seams of the cast iron are seamlessly fashioned. The back of the cat figure features a thin rectangular slot to deposit coins in. There's also some minor episodes of surface oxidation on especially the white enamel paint on the cast iron. This vint, authentic & orig late 19th-early 20th c Hubley American painted cast iron bank has great lines & a wonderful expression on the cat's face, giving it a distinct & particular personality. The paint loss demonstrates that the piece is honest & an authentic antique cast iron bank, rather than a mere reproduction or repainted piece.The little guy's looking for a new home. Wonderful.

It's heavy and the burnished metal interior edges of both halves of the cast iron figure, seamlessly meet along this area where the two parts conjoin in the middle.
